(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The City of Pueblo has approved $810,145 in remaining 2016 Ballot Question 1A Capital Improvement Project Funds to be allocated to the construction phase of the Eastside Pedestrian, Parking and Streetscape Improvements Project.
The project includes improvements identified and coordinated during the design phase of the project around El Centro del Quinto Sol Park. The improvements include the installation of a new curb, gutter, sidewalk, and pavement around the park.
“We are excited to begin the construction phase of the Eastside Pedestrian, Parking and Streetscape Improvement Project as a fulfilled promise to the Pueblo County voters of the 2016 1A ballot initiative,” said Director of Pueblo Public Works Andrew Hayes. “The design phase helped us identify specific details for the project, and now we’re able to deliver the much-needed upgrades in the El Centro del Quinto Sol area to improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
ADA-compliant curb ramps will also be installed during construction of the project, along with pedestrian lighting, tree relocation at the park, and turf replacement. New parking will be implemented during construction to alleviate access concerns at the El Centro del Quinto Sol area, according to the city.
“We look forward to completing this project to improve access and safety in the area,” said Hayes.
Construction is set to begin this summer, with a completion date of Dec. 31, 2025.
