Pueblo officer-involved shooting leaves three injured, including deputy

(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to a late-night officer-involved shooting where an officer was injured.

On Tuesday, June 25, deputies responded to a call at around 11:30 p.m. of a suspicious car at the Loaf’ N Jug on Highway 96. When deputies attempted to contact the individuals inside the vehicle, the driver drove into the patrol car, and shots were fired.

The suspect then drove westbound on Highway 96. Deputies followed the car and conducted a PIT maneuver, causing the car to roll near Highway 96 and Vision Lane. Both the driver and the passenger were apprehended and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained. The 23-year-old driver was then transferred to a Colorado Springs hospital for further treatment.

A deputy was injured when his car was hit by the suspect’s vehicle as it was leaving the gas station. The deputy was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Per PCSO, the incident is being investigated. Individuals can expect heavy law enforcement presence around the 31000 block of Highway 96 and near Highway 96 and Vision Lane for several hours due to the ongoing investigation.

The Critical Response Team is investigating the incident.
