(PUEBLO, Colo.) — One person is dead following an early morning shooting in Pueblo on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), officers responded shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday to the 200 block of West Mesa Avenue, near Elm Street, after ShotSpotter detected gunfire in the area. PPD is investigating the shooting, which left one person dead.
According to PPD, when officers arrived at the scene, they found seven shell casings and were notified that a man with a gunshot wound had been left at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Section and Crime Scene Investigators responded and took over the investigation. A nearby Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) camera caught video footage of the event and has assisted in the search for suspects.
