(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said officers have arrested a suspect in a case where a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on the east side of Pueblo.

According to PPD, during the week of May 20, a woman was held against her will and sexually assaulted; during the investigation, detectives got an arrest warrant for 61-year-old Jefferson Benfield along with a search warrant for his home.

On Wednesday, May 29 Benfield was found by detectives and after a short chase, he was arrested and taken into custody.

PPD said Benfield was booked into Pueblo County Detention Center for the charges of Sexual Assault and False Imprisonment. Benfield is currently listed as a Registered Sex Offender, according to PPD.
