Pueblo Police: Woman runs over person after carjacking

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A woman is under arrest after she allegedly carjacked someone, got into a fight, and then ran over a person as she was leaving the scene, according to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD).

PPD said officers originally responded just before noon on Wednesday, Nov. 29 to the 1700 block of Moore Avenue, northwest of Lake Minnequa, on a reported carjacking in progress and fight. While on the way to the scene, officers were informed that 42-year-old Denise Lee had carjacked a car, and while leaving the scene, she ran over a person.

Just after noon, an officer found the carjacked car and pulled it over near the intersection Elmwood Drive and South Pueblo Boulevard. Following a struggle with officers, Lee was taken into custody.

PPD said the victim who got run over was taken to the hospital where they were treated for undisclosed injuries.

Lee was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center for First Degree Motor Vehicle Theft, Robbery, multiple counts of Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, Vehicular Assault, Assault in the Third Degree, Violation of a Restraining Order, and Driving Under Restraint.

According to PPD, Lee was on parole at the time of the incident, after being convicted and sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections in November 2022, for Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Serious Bodily Injury.
