Pueblo to hold open house for Brownfield EPA Grant input

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The City of Pueblo will host an open house for the public to come find out more about the City’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfield Multipurpose Grant.

The five-year Brownfield Multipurpose Grant can fund many types of environmental assessments on both public and private properties to support brownfield reuse and cover the cleanup of city-owned buildings and land.

“We are excited to host the public for our first open house to talk about the EPA Brownfield Multipurpose Grant and find out the community’s interests, ideas, and priorities for how to use the funding,” said Senior Planner for the City of Pueblo Planning and Community Development Department. “This five-year grant allows for opportunities throughout the community for cleanup and renovation projects, where we particularly will focus on the Y zone, which includes Bessemer and the Eastside of Pueblo.”

The grant will also allow the City to assist brownfield property owners or developers with a wide range of brownfield reuse planning activities. The City plans to focus on the EPA Brownfield Multipurpose Grant-funded efforts in the Eastside and Bessemer neighborhoods.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at the Pueblo City-County Library at Rawlings location in Brett Kelly Room “B” from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Individuals are invited to attend to find out more about the EPA multipurpose grant, give ideas and input about how planning or funds should be spent and to stay engaged throughout the grant process.
