Pueblo to receive heavy snow late into evening

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The National Weather Service (NWS) Pueblo reported that on Monday, Dec. 9, heavy snowfall will continue south until around 9 p.m., hitting the I-25 corridor around Pueblo and further south and creating hazardous travel conditions.

The heaviest snowfall will taper off, but lingering snow is expected to last until around 3 a.m.

FOX21 Storm Team Meteorologist Megan Montero said that travel will be especially difficult around the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains through the evening and overnight hours.

Mayor of Pueblo Heather Graham has issued a declaration of temporary housing and shelter emergency starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, allowing local churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and other religious institutions to use their buildings as temporary shelters for the City’s homeless.
