Pueblo West child abuse suspects face First-Degree Murder charges in 3-year-old’s death

(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — A mother and another woman in Pueblo West who were both arrested in connection to a child abuse case earlier this month are now facing First-Degree Murder charges after the death of a 3-year-old boy.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the child’s mother, 38-year-old Samantha Kimberly, and 39-year-old Brittany Farmer were both arrested on alleged Felony Child Abuse and Child Abuse charges after deputies were called to a Pueblo West home on a report that a 3-year-old was unconscious and breathing abnormally on June 8, 2024.

According to deputies, the child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries before he was flown to a Colorado Springs hospital, where he later died of his injuries on June 12. A second child in the home, a 14-year-old boy, was also treated for injuries believed to be from abuse and has been placed in the Department of Human Services.

Kimberly was arrested on June 8 and Farmer was taken into custody on June 11. According to PCSO, Both Kimberly and Farmer remain in the Pueblo County Jail and both have a bond of $500,000.
