(SOUTHERN COLORADO) – Two things are going to bring a noticeable change with a taste of fall on the way for Thursday. An approaching upper wave moving toward Colorado from the northwest and its associated cold front are going to bring lift, moisture, and cooler air to the region later Wednesday into Thursday.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to increase over the Pikes Peak Region and mountain areas north of highway 50 this afternoon before spreading to the southeast through the evening as the cold front moves south across the area – bringing the potential for wind gusts between 30 and 45 m.p.h.
The arriving cooler air overnight and the heart of the upper level system will keep showers and thunderstorms over the region into early Thursday morning , which looks to start off damp and gray (maybe even some snow on Pikes Peak!). Showers and storms will gradually shift south through the day with drying conditions developing over northern areas in the afternoon and perhaps even some blue sky late in the day.
