Rainbow Falls to reopen with new parking location and reservation system

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Rainbow Falls is set to reopen on Friday, June 14 with a new parking location and reservation system.

The natural attraction is set to reopen following a rockfall incident that led to the site’s temporary closure. The closure was prompted by the dislodgment of sizable rocks from the cliff, posing a hazard to parked cars.

After considering safety measures, the falls will reopen with the parking lot blocked off with sturdy barriers to safeguard visitors from potential rockfall incidents.

“We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors to Rainbow Falls,” stated Executive Director of El Paso County Parks & Community Services Todd Marts. “These proactive measures not only addresses parking concerns but also ensure that our visitors can continue to appreciate Rainbow Falls.”

The new parking lot is at “Higginbotham Flats,” off Highway 24 and Serpentine Drive in Manitou Springs. The shuttle service will operate continuously from Friday to Sunday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A fee of $20 will be charged, which includes parking and shuttle service.

Rainbow Falls visitors are encouraged to make a reservation online at the link above.
