(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) said a recent rescue of an iguana ended in a happy tail for the iguana and the officer who rescued him.
According to HSPPR, on a morning in May, Centennial Animal Services was called to an iguana on the loose. When Corporal Middleton and Sergeant Berdiales arrived they found an iguana sitting in the grass near a busy street. HSPPR said by the looks of it he had been out of his enclosure for some time, he was lethargic, cold to the touch, and losing color.
The officers took the iguana to the shelter for emergency veterinary care and he made a full recovery. One person in particular was happy to hear that; Corporal Middleton wanted to be there for him for the rest of his days.
When the iguana was cleared for adoption, Corporal Middleton took “Zion” home. HSPPR said their time together has just begun and it couldn’t be happier for the pair.
