(COLORADO SPRINGS) — When people hear the word “retirement,” they often think about money, but it’s a lot more than just that. Bree Shellito, Director of Financial Well-Being with Ent Credit Union, joined FOX21 Morning News on Thursday, Sept. 4, to discuss the other things that should be taken into consideration in addition to finances.
She said it’s essential to plan beyond the financial aspect and consider what will bring you purpose, joy, and connection in this next phase of life. Loneliness is one of the biggest risks in retirement, so having a plan for staying connected to family, friends, and community is important for maintaining happiness and health.
Shellito said retirement confidence starts with clarity, and people often overestimate or underestimate what they’ll have to live on.
To help people plan with confidence, Ent Credit Union has partnered with the Pikes Peak Area Council on Aging for a free Retirement Reimagined Series this fall. It’s six sessions, every Thursday from Sept. 4 through Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. People can attend in person or virtually, and sessions will also be recorded.
