DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Rockies have reportedly traded Ryan McMahon to the New York Yankees, according to several sources.
On Friday, Major League Baseball said on X that the New York Yankees reportedly acquired McMahon, a Rockies third baseman, per multiple sources, including Mark Feinsand, MLB’s national reporter.
Feinsand said that the Rockies will receive two prospects in return. While MLB said neither the Rockies or the Yankees has confirmed the deal, Feinsand said it will send pitching prospects Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz to the Centennial State.
McMahon has been with the Rockies from the start of his career, ever since Colorado drafted him in 2013. After finally making his professional debut in 2017, McMahon has stayed with Colorado and was recently voted to the National League All-Star team and a finalist for Rawlings Gold Glove in 2024.
He was the third baseman, that is, until the Yankees reportedly acquired him.
The MLB said Herring, who will reportedly be heading to the Rockies, is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the Yankees’ system by the MLB Pipeline. Meanwhile, Grosz is ranked No. 21.
