Ruxton Avenue water main break repairs complete, roads reopened

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs announced that the water main break that had closed Ruxton Avenue has been fully repaired, and roads are now reopened to vehicle and bicycle traffic, as of Tuesday, July 8, around 10:30 p.m.

According to the City, detours are no longer in place, and the Mountain Metro’s Route 33 shuttle resumed normal operations on Wednesday morning, July 9.

The City stated that cleanup efforts would be completed on Wednesday morning, but the roadway is fully accessible and all repair work has been completed.

According to the City, some homes and businesses may temporarily have discolored water or low water pressure as water service returns to normal. To clear your lines, the City suggests running cold water from the lowest faucet in the building for five minutes or until the water runs clear.

The City extended its thanks to the community for their patience and to the crews for their efficient work to restore service. For questions, call the Water and Sewer Division at (719) 685-2562, and to report a water emergency, call (719) 492-1970.
