(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Safe Passage, a children’s advocacy center in Colorado Springs, is celebrating 30 years of helping children in Southern Colorado who have experienced abuse and neglect.
Since 1994, Safe Passage has served about 422,000 child victims and 20,000 caregivers in El Paso and Teller counties. To kick off its 30th anniversary, on Wednesday, April 10, the group unveiled a permanent timeline display at their location on Robinson Street.
The timeline highlights several milestones from the child advocacy center’s history. Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade attended the event and FOX21 asked him what his message was for children going through abuse in our community.
“As Mayor, I am here for you, and our police department and our team of public servants will do everything in our power to ensure that you have a good and better life and that no one ever hurts you, and that’s why we do this job,” said Mayor Yemi.
Safe Passage is also hosting a fundraising luncheon on April 25, a public art dedication in July, and a film screening in September. For more information about the organization, click on the link above.
