Second arrest made in Fremont County Jail escape

(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — A second person has been arrested in connection to an escape from the Fremont County Jail on Friday, June 7.

Escaped convict Kegan VanVliet was captured in Colorado Springs later on the same day as the escape, thanks in part to infrared technology utilized by the Colorado State Patrol as well as assistance from a K9 Officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Before being found in Colorado Springs, VanVliet was last seen along U.S. Highway 50 at Justice Center Road in Cañon City.

On Thursday, June 27, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) announced a second arrest in connection to the escape from the Fremont County Jail. 38-year-old Kyle J. VanVliet was arrested on Wednesday on a felony warrant for Aiding Escape.

Kyle VanVliet was booked into the Fremont County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
