Semi carrying vodka crashes, closes part of I-25 near Colorado City

(COLORADO CITY, Colo.) — Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that a crash near Colorado City has closed part of I-25.

At around 4:12 a.m., CSP reported via Facebook that there was an extended road closure due to the crash on northbound I-25, north of Thacker Road and south of Colorado City. The Colorado Department of Transportation’s COtrip reports that as of 6:20 a.m., I-25 between Graneros Road and Highway 165 was still closed.

According to CSP, Troopers responded to a single rollover crash at 2:53 a.m. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

CSP said the semi was carrying vodka and would take “some time to clean.”

Drivers are asked to choose an alternate route and should expect traffic delays. Traffic is being redirected at milepost 71, near Shetland Road. CSP said it is unknown when the road will reopen, however, it is estimated the road will be shut down most of the day.
