DENVER (KDVR) — U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet is set to announce a run for governor of Colorado.
Bennet, a Democrat who has represented Colorado in Congress since 2009, will run to replace Gov. Jared Polis in the 2026 election, FOX31’s Democratic analyst Andy Boian confirmed on Colorado Point of View. Boian revealed on the show he is helping with Bennet’s campaign.
Bennet joins fellow Democrat and current state Attorney General Phil Weiser, who announced his own run in January, in the Democratic primary field. Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, after rumors of a governor bid, recently announced a run for state attorney general.
Bennet has announced a press conference for Friday but has not said what the topic of that conference would be.
Bennet had one of the highest favorability ratings among state officials asked about in a recent survey from the Colorado Polling Institute, which also included Weiser and Griswold.
Of those asked about, Bennet’s favorable to unfavorable ratio was the highest. Here is that poll’s breakdown:

Rep. Lauren Boebert: (25% fav/ 59% unfav) -34
The online poll of 615 likely Colorado voters was conducted between Mar. 27-31 by the bipartisan team of Aspect Strategic (D) and New Bridge Strategy (R) and has a margin of error of +/- 3.95%.
