Severe weather brings risk of hail, strong winds

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — There is a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms in Southern Colorado for today. Thunderstorms are expected to come off the mountains in the early afternoon and strengthen as they head east towards the eastern plains. With these storms, it is possible to see large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, which is up to lime size, strong winds, and the potential to see an isolated tornado, most likely for the Eastern Plains. The details of the risk are in the graphic below.

If you do encounter a severe thunderstorm or tornado in your area, make sure to take shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. In cases of large hail, do not park under highway underpasses.
