(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) informed the public that a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) has moved into EPSO’s jurisdiction.
EPSO said Steven John Long had moved into El Paso County and is registered at 534 Loomis Avenue near I-25 and South Academy Boulevard. Long is a sex offender whose past behavior has led him to be labeled an SVP by the state of Colorado.
According to EPSO, Long’s criminal history shows a conviction of Indecent Assault and Battery, Child under 14 Haverhill, MA in 2003, and Unlawful Sexual Contact, Lewiston, ME in 2010.
EPSO is notifying the community as required by law and undertaken the following tasks, among others:
Notified the Division of Criminal Justice’s Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team.
Reviewed and confirmed Steven John Long’s residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes.
Made notifications to neighbors and businesses deemed to be in the immediate area.
Briefed patrol personnel on Steven John Long’s status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles.
Notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Provided an online video that describes the SVP community notification process, SVP information, and additional resources for the community.

Long has complied with his requirement to register with EPSO and the Sheriff’s Office said it will take every reasonable step to ensure Long complies with his registration and fully understands his responsibilities.
