Shelter-in-place ordered due to barricaded suspect near HWY 24

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has issued a shelter-in-place due to a barricaded suspect near West Colorado Avenue.

Police issued the shelter-in-place at 12:24 p.m. in the area of 800 block of W. Colorado Ave., near Highway 24 west of downtown Colorado Springs

According to CSPD, officers are dealing with a person who is barricaded in the area and has warrants. The suspect allegedly has two dogs, and one has bitten an officer. Police said the officer suffered a minor wound and was treated on the scene.

Officers are currently trying to de-escalate the situation. Individuals are asked to stay inside, lock, and stay away from windows and doors. Individuals should also avoid the area.
