Single-car crash leaves one dead

(OLD COLORADO CITY, Colo.) — A crash on Monday night, Feb. 10 rendered Uintah Street closed for four hours, and one person dead after their vehicle struck a building.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, at around 9:57 p.m., officers responded to 21st Street and Uintah Street in Old Colorado City regarding a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found that a car that was traveling eastbound had left the roadway, and struck multiple trees and a building before stopping.

CSPD said the driver of the car was ejected and was killed in the crash. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigation.

Although it is early in the investigation, CSPD said speed appears to be a factor.
