Skirted Heifer announces reopening for downtown location

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Skirted Heifer announced the reopening day for its downtown location as Friday, April 26, two and a half months after a car crashed into the building.

On Sunday, Feb. 11 at around 2 a.m. a suspect related to a domestic disturbance drove his vehicle into several downtown Colorado Springs businesses including the Skirted Heifer.

Owner Kevin Megyeri got a call about the crash at 2:45 a.m. and he expressed to FOX21 at the time concern for his staff and the business as the crash happened the morning of the Super Bowl.

“I care for my employees and to watch them not going to be able to have a job for a while is really freaking me out right now,” Megyeri said during a previous interview with FOX21 which can be viewed in the video player below.

After the incident, Skirted Heifer created a GoFundMe page which has since raised $14,692 for the business.

On Friday, April 19 Skirted Heifer posted to Facebook that the business would be reopening on Friday, April 26 with a soft opening on Thursday, April 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for anyone who donated to the GoFundMe.

“We personally want to thank everyone that helped us get through this incident and we are coming back better than ever!” wrote Skirted Heifer.
