DENVER (KDVR) — Snowfall overnight Friday brought much of Colorado a fresh layer of snow to wake up to Saturday morning.
The cold is not expected to last long, with temperatures in the 70s ahead in the Denver weather forecast.
Since Friday, some areas around Denver only saw traces of snow, while others in the high country received more than a foot and a half of snow.
The highest snow total was recorded in Costilla County at 18.3 inches near La Veta Pass. There was also over a foot of snow recorded in Huerfano County and in Rye.

Any snow remaining on the ground around the Front Range and metro area is expected to melt as temperatures warm on Saturday to the mid-40s.
Next week, temperatures in the 70s and sunshine are in the forecast. There is even a chance one day for temperatures to reach 80 degrees for the first time this year.
Notably, April is historically the second snowiest month of the year for Denver, according to the National Weather Service. April showers bring an average of 6.1 inches of snow to the Mile High City, so more snow could be in store this month.
