South Powers Boulevard closed near Colorado Springs Airport due to fire

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) said a portion of South Powers Boulevard is closed due to a grassfire near the Colorado Springs Airport (COS) on Monday, June 17, around 1 p.m.

CDOT said the fire activity closed S. Powers Blvd. between Bradley Road and Grinnell Boulevard. The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) said crews are responding to the grassfire at Milton E Proby and Peak Innovation Parkways.

The public is asked to avoid the area while crews work to contain the fire. COS said it is aware of the fire near the airport and at this time operations have not been impacted.
