Springs man sentenced to 11 years for robbing ATM service workers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for robbing two ATM service workers as they were refilling the ATMs with cash.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, 25-year-old Jahlique Rahmir Dorsey was sentenced to 141 months, nearly 12 years, in federal prison for robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to a plea agreement, on Sept. 26, 2023, Dorsey and another man robbed an employee of Brinks U.S. who was servicing ATMs at a Wells Fargo bank in Colorado Springs. The victim said two men approached him with guns pointed at him. The two men took the victim’s bag and service weapon before driving away in an SUV.

The bag the men took only contained rubber bands because Dorsey and the other man robbed the victim before he had a chance to service the ATM.

Following that incident, on Oct. 2, 2023, Dorsey and the same man robbed another Brinks employee who was servicing an ATM at a Wells Fargo bank in Aurora. The victim in this incident was in the process of removing money from an ATM and refilling the cash supply when Dorsey and the other man approached and pointed guns at him.

During an altercation with the employee, the employee was punched in the mouth and also had his bag and service weapon stolen. This bag contained cash, the Attorney’s Office said.

“Mr. Dorsey’s brazen, violent conduct put the victims of his robberies and other members of our community in real danger,” said United States Attorney Peter McNeilly.

Dorsey’s federal prison sentence was handed down on June 16, 2025. Dorsey’s co-defendant, the other man who helped Dorsey rob the Brinks employees, will be sentenced on July 30.
