Springs Utilities reports multiple power outages

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) said high winds are causing power outages across Colorado Springs.

According to Springs Utilities’ outage map, there are multiple power outages around Colorado Springs. Springs Utilities map showed about 10,755 customers affected by the outages.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) posted on social media that police and fire are responding to a high volume of calls due to the wind. CSFD reports high power transmission lines are down near Skyway Park Elementary in the Broadmoor neighborhood. CSFD is asking the public to watch for emergency vehicles if they need to leave the house today.

Springs Utilities said to treat any dark intersections as 4-way-stops and to watch the Springs Utilities outage map for updates.

The winds also caused at least two school districts to close Monday due to power outages or building damage. Both Manitou Springs School District 14 and Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 sent out alerts Monday morning letting parents and students know classes were cancelled for the day.
