(COLORADO SPRINGS) — With a new year, comes a new location, Steel City Art Works Gallery will be debuting its newest home in February right as festivities start for the First Friday Art Walk.
Steel City Art Works Gallery begins 2025 at their new home on 330 S. Union Avenue near Main Street. The new location offers a new vision of art while also participating in the revitalization of one of Pueblo’s historical landmarks, the McLaughlin Building.
“We’re grateful to have this collaborative opportunity in such an invigorating space where all of us, as artists, can further explore our creativity with limitless possibilities,” said Diana LaMorris, gallery manager, Steel City Art Works. “We’re thrilled by the support we’ve received from our customers, who have enabled us to be a successful and vital part of the community art scene. Once the final additions are complete at the gallery’s new location, we can offer a vibrant ambience for current and new customers alike with new, engaging art shows and more unique events.”
Built in 1891, the building offers a Victorian Eclectic style with Romanesque features. Originally, the building contained a hotel. a commercial area with two saloons, two restaurants, a barbershop, and a shoe shop. The three-story building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
“This move reinforces our commitment to the Pueblo community,” LaMorris said. “Once we open in January, we welcome all in the community to stop by and see how we have transformed the space, visit with the artists, and join us as we begin this exciting journey. We’re especially looking forward to participating in February’s First Friday Art Walk.”
The gallery will have a soft opening in mid-January, with an opening reception and grand opening festivities on First Friday Art Walk on Friday, Feb. 7.
