Suspect arrested after multiple reports of shots fired in area west of downtown

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a suspect has been arrested after police received multiple reports of shots fired, west of downtown Colorado Springs on Wednesday afternoon, June 5.

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the incident in the 700 block of West Platte Avenue, west of I-25, and when officers arrived they learned that the suspect, David Brehm, had allegedly been firing a weapon from his home.

“Officers set up containment, made contact with the suspect, and convinced him to leave his home where he was taken into custody,” wrote police.

Several bullet defects were located on Brehm’s roof, who allegedly told police that he “believed people were on his roof and he was shooting at them,” according to CSPD.

A search warrant was executed at Brehm’s home where police recovered multiple weapons, ammo, and illegal narcotics.
