Suspect arrested in Pueblo cemetery shooting

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said an arrest has been made in connection to a shooting at a cemetery in early December 2023.

The shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the area of Mountain View Cemetery, at the intersection of Acero Avenue and West Northern Avenue. When officers arrived to the scene, they found 19-year-old Christopher Trujillo suffering from life-threatening injuries due to an apparent gunshot wound.

Trujillo was taken to the hospital in Pueblo, then transported to another hospital in Colorado Springs, where he died.

A person of interest was identified, but PPD did not announce an arrest in the case until Jan. 18. PPD said 31-year-old Ralph Sanders was arrested for Second Degree Murder in connection to the homicide of Christopher Trujillo.
