(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has identified a suspect involved in an officer-involved shooting near North Powers Boulevard on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday to the 5600 block of Buckskin Pass Drive, near Powers and North Carefree Circle on a report of a domestic disturbance.
CSPD said the person who called 911 reported that his ex-girlfriend was at his house, ringing the doorbell and “excessively knocking.” Police were familiar with the suspect, and knew she usually carried a gun. When officers tried to contact the woman on scene, she allegedly pointed a gun at officers, and at least one officer fired their weapon, hitting the woman.
The suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Kari Anstett. Anstett was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
EPSO, the lead investigative agency in the shooting, said Anstett was taken into custody on four no-bond warrants including a violation of a restraining order. The investigation is ongoing, and EPSO said additional charges are expected against Anstett.
