(LA JUNTA, Colo.) — The Otero County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) and La Junta Fire Department are working on rescuing a person in the Arkansas River and are asking people to avoid the area.
According to OCSO, at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12 crews were conducting a search and rescue on the Arkansas River in the north La Junta area. A few minutes later OCSO said the missing person had been found and crews were now working on rescuing the party.
OCSO issued a reminder that the Arkansas River is running high and much faster than it appears and is advising people to stay out of the river.
