(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — The Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) is looking for a person who did not return from his hike and is being deemed missing.
According to TCSO, on Sunday, Dec. 29, at around 5 p.m., dispatch received a call from someone who said a man named Joel Tovar had gone missing. Deputies were able to locate Tovar’s vehicle in the parking lot of Horsethief Falls Trail, a hiking area in Divide, but did not locate him.
TCSO said deputies searched the vehicle for any clues as to his intentions and whereabouts. Inside the car, they found hiking gear and a cell phone. Deputies also searched the trail, interviewing hikers as they encountered them but were not able to locate Tovar.
As of Monday morning, Dec. 30, Search and Rescue has been activated.
