(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A teacher was fired from the Pueblo School for Arts & Sciences (PSAS) after allegedly hitting a child, according to Dave Martin, Executive Director of PSAS.
PSAS told FOX21 that late Monday, Feb. 3, the charter school was informed by a parent that a child was allegedly hit by a teacher at the Jones campus located at 2415 Jones Avenue. An investigation was immediately started, and PSAS determined that a staff member “contacted a student in an unacceptable manner,” the school said no injuries were involved in the incident.
The school fired the teacher and all information and recordings have been turned over to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD).
PSAS released a statement on Facebook informing the community of the incident.
Some may or may not have seen the recent news report on an incident involving a former employee of PSAS and student. The behavior of this former staff member is not representative of the PSAS staff. Please don’t let one individual’s irrational behavior overshadow the good that is reflected in our classrooms everyday. This individual crossed the line and we have zero tolerance for this sort of behavior. We have severed all ties with this person and have fully cooperated with authorities regarding the situation. The child and their wellbeing is our biggest concern moving forward. We will always continue to strive for the best interest of our students and staff.
Dave Martin, Executive Director
