(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Four teens were rescued during the overnight hours of Thursday, Match 27 after they became trapped by the weather on Pikes Peak.
According to Teller County Search and Rescue (TCSAR), crews received a call shortly before midnight on Thursday reporting four teens that had summitted Pikes Peak earlier in the day. As can happen in the high country in Colorado, weather moved in quickly and TCSAR the teens were not prepared for the weather change.
Unable to navigate the terrain, the teens took shelter in a cave to escape the weather, and used a flashing headlamp to help rescue crews zero in on their location.
TCSAR said the teens were safely rescued and crews were cleared from Pikes Peak around 4 a.m. Friday.
