(PUEBLO) – It’s We Are Pueblo week, and what better way to celebrate than by exploring the city’s best outdoor spots? With the weather cooling off and sunshine stretching into fall, it’s the perfect time to lace up your shoes, hop on a bike, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk.
FOX21 Storm Team Meteorologist, Nic Temple, went running around town, literally and figuratively, to find some of Pueblo’s top trails and paths. Here are three of his favorites:
1. Arkansas River Trail System
The Arkansas River Trail tops the list for good reason. Going right along the Arkansas River, this trail offers beautiful views, multiple bridges, and even colorful graffiti art that adds a unique vibe to the run.
Stretching for miles, the trail has plenty of access points and trailheads, making it easy to hop on and off. Bonus: you’ll even find porta-potties along the way, a small but very appreciated amenity for anyone logging long miles outside!
2. Pueblo Mountain Park
Part of the same trail system, Pueblo Mountain Park delivers a completely different feel. With rugged terrain and a more natural setting, this spot is perfect for trail runners and hikers looking for a challenge. It’s located near the Nature Center, where the sounds of the outdoors, yes, even the occasional cow moo, can add to the atmosphere.
3. Lake Minnequa Trail
For something a little more relaxed, the Lake Minnequa Trail is a great choice. This path loops around the lake, with nearby farmland adding to the scenery. While shorter than the other trails, it’s ideal for a peaceful walk, an easy run, or tacking on some extra miles to your workout.
Pueblo is full of hidden outdoor gems, and these are just a few of the highlights. And if you’re from outside the area, it’s worth the trip to see the beauty Pueblo has to offer.
