(PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo.) — The Air Force Thunderbirds have officially touched down in Colorado Springs ahead of the planned flyover and aerial demonstration at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Class of 2024 graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 30.
The Thunderbirds will practice in the skies over Colorado Springs on Wednesday, with Olympian Missy Franklin aboard. The practice will include the hat toss/run-in flight over Falcon Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, followed by the air show practice from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Locals are reminded not to stop along I-25 or on city streets to watch the flyover.
Peterson SFB announced the arrival of the Thunderbirds on social media Tuesday evening.
“It’s an honor to have these elite pilots here to inspire and support our graduating cadets,” said Peterson SFB in its post on Facebook. “Their presence adds a special touch to this significant milestone.”
