(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Your downtown commute is set to change again before it gets any better. The City of Colorado Springs has announced a full closure of Block One of Tejon Street, from Colorado Avenue to Pikes Peak Avenue, beginning the morning of Aug. 18.
While the sidewalk on this stretch of Tejon St. will be available to pedestrians, vehicle traffic will be fully restricted for milling, paving, and striping work. The fact that paving and striping are being done does bring some degree of finality to this section of the Tejon Street Revitalization Project, as the City assured Colorado Springs citizens and visitors that this block is expected to reopen to full, two-way traffic, complete with on-street, diagonal parking as early as Monday, Aug. 25.
The end of one stretch of this project means the beginning of another. Starting on Sept. 2, Block Two of Tejon, from Pikes Peak to East Kiowa Street, will be fully closed. Like Block One over the past few months, Block Two will be closed to traffic in both directions, and street parking will be unavailable until further notice.

In an official announcement, the City has confirmed that businesses in Block Two will receive vouchers for two hours of free parking at three nearby garages.
