During opening statements on Tuesday, prosecutors alleged that Bobian’s actions led to Officer Becerra’s fall from the bridge and recounted the events leading up to the incident.

Bobian’s defense said Officer Becerra’s death was a tragedy but ultimately an accident and that Bobian was just trying to get away from a chaotic scene on the bridge.

According to FPD, Officer Becerra had been with the department for four and a half years and was assigned to the Patrol Division as a K9 Officer.
