TRICARE Patient Portal being decommissioned

(COLORADO) — TRICARE is announcing the Department of Defense’s new electronic health record system will be replacing TRICARE and the old patient portal is being decommissioned.

TRICARE said MHS GENESIS will be replacing TRICARE and the replacement eliminates the need for two systems. While providers will continue to have access to complete records, legacy medical records for personal use will not be transferred to the new system. TRICARE said legacy health records will be available to download until April 1.

“All military hospitals and clinics have transitioned to MHS GENESIS. We encourage you to take these important steps to save your personal health records before the TOL Patient Portal decommissions,” said Rear Adm. Tracy Farrill, Principal Deputy, Assistant Director for Health Care Administration, and Military Health System EHR Functional Champion at the Defense Health Agency. “Your medical history is a valuable resource for managing your health, and saving your records now ensures you have access if you need it.”

Those who need to download legacy health records can do so at TRICARE’s website by logging into your account, clicking the blue “Health Record” button, and then selecting “Download My Data.”

A physical copy from your military hospital or clinic’s records management office will need to be requested in person by filling out a form and then returning at a later time to pick up the records. The process will still be available after TRICARE’s Patient Portal shuts down.
