(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Peterson and Schriever Space Force Base along with the Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station said it is suspending its Trusted Traveler program due to recent deadly national incidents.
The Space Force Bases said the changes come out of an abundance of caution after the Jan. 1 suspected terror incidents in New Orleans and Las Vegas. While there are no known threats to the bases, the changes are to ensure the safety and security of their personnel.
With the indefinite suspension of the Trusted Traveler program, all visitors will be required to get a base pass, even when traveling with a military ID card holder. Details on getting a base pass are detailed on the base’s website.
Those looking to register visitors are encouraged to come to the Visitor Control Center during normal operating hours Monday through Friday to avoid delays in processing. Customers can preregister their guests through the DBIDS Visitor Enrollment System.
Official Visitors such as government contractors and non-DoD guests of an organization who are visiting for an official purpose will need to contact the host organization’s designated official base access sponsor.
Unofficial Visitors will need to request an Unofficial Visitor Base Pass from the Visitor Control Center for the base. Two options are available, one requiring a sponsor to be present during normal duty hours for an in-person pickup at the Visitor Center. The other option is preregistering through the DBIDS Visitor Enrollment System.
