(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Two men have been arrested in connection to the 2019 murder of 26-year-old aspiring rap artist William Underwood, “FYL Jackk,” in a Cimarron Hills neighborhood.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO), 35-year-old Derrick Bernard was arrested on March 7, 2024 and 26-year-old Aeeshawn Mathews was arrested on March 11. Bernard was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder and Solicitation of First-Degree Murder in connection to Underwood’s death.
Mathews was arrested for First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder.

EPSO said deputies originally responded just before 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2019 to the 1900 block of Shawnee Drive in Cimarron Hills on reports of shots fired. When deputies arrived, they found Underwood dead on a sidewalk.
EPSO said the arrests came after years of investigation.
