Two arrested in connection to string of burglaries

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Two men have been arrested in connection to a string of burglaries in the Cimarron Hills area and in Colorado Springs, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).

EPSO announced the arrests in a press release on Wednesday, May 29. EPSO said the investigation began on May 8, after deputies responded to a string of business burglaries in the 6000 block of Bismark Road, in the Cimarron Hills area north of Constitution Avenue.

While the burglaries were under investigation, one of the businesses was notified that someone was trying to cash a check that was stolen from the business. When deputies responded to the bank, they contacted 49-year-old Kerry Sherow. Further interviews and investigation then led deputies to the burglary suspect, identified as 44-year-old Franklin Alexander.

EPSO said a search warrant was executed at Alexander’s house, and numerous items related to the Bismark Road burglaries were recovered in the process, as well as other burglaries in the Colorado Springs Police Department’s jurisdiction.

EPSO said there is evidence to connect Alexander to at least 10 burglaries in El Paso County. He is currently being held at the El Paso County Jail on a $25,000 bond for Burglary. Sherow is being held on a $2,000 bond for Identity Theft.
