Two suspects arrested after drive-by shooting in Cañon City

(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Police Department is investigating two unrelated shootings on Friday morning, Feb. 28, and police said so far, two suspects in one of the incidents, a drive-by shooting, have been arrested.

According to police, officers began investigating the drive-by shooting just before 8 a.m. on Friday at the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park, located in the 600 block of Raintree Boulevard, east of Highway 50.

“Proactive patrol efforts led an officer to the area just before any reported calls came in regarding the incident,” wrote police. “As the officer drove through the park, the officer was flagged down by witnesses as the first calls were received by dispatch.”

Officers quickly stopped the suspect vehicle seen leaving the area thanks to a description of the car given by witnesses and proceeded to detain the two people inside. The victim was also found at the scene before they were treated and released with minor injuries.

Police said the suspects, identified as 45-year-old Tiffany Gann of Cañon City and 45-year-old Eric Chevalier of Colorado Springs, were eventually arrested and are facing several charges.

According to police, Gann faces the following charges:

Attempted First-Degree Murder- Complicity

Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm

Reckless Endangerment

Eluding

According to police, Chevalier faces the following charges:

Attempted First-Degree Murder

Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender

Reckless Endangerment

Unlawful Use of Weapon

Stalking

Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm

“This is an isolated incident and there is no apparent danger to the public,” wrote police. “It should be noted that all available information has led authorities to the conclusion that the two shooting incidents reported this morning are separate, unrelated incidents.”
