U.S. Air Force Academy welcomes Class of 2028, over 1,100 new cadets

(U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.) — The U.S. Air Force Academy welcomed its newest class of cadets on Wednesday, June 26 for the annual In-Processing Day, also known as I-Day.

Wednesday’s process began at the steps of the Holaday Athletic Center where the new cadets took the oath of service before earning the title of Basic Cadet. Afterward, the Class of 2028 immediately began their training, which included an introduction to Air Force customs and courtesies, along with dress and appearance standards.

Basic Cadet Training ends in early August and the Class of 2028 will be formally welcomed into the Cadet Wing during the Acceptance Day Parade.

According to USAFA, the Class of 2028 consists of 1,132 appointees, each selected out of more than 10,000 applicants.
