Unicorns seek forever home, CSPD asks for help from local children

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — For the fifth year in a row, a Blessing of Unicorns has found its way to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Police enjoy the company of the unicorns but need to find them a long-term place to stay. They are holding their 5th Annual Valentine’s Day Card Contest to decide where the unicorns will live.

CSPD is asking all Colorado Springs children (ages 3-10) who are interested in this opportunity to foster the unicorns to submit homemade Valentine’s Day cards to the contest. CSPD Chief Adrian Vasquez will select three cards from those submitted.

How to Submit a Valentine’s Day Card: Send homemade cards to “The Community Relations Unit” and drop them off or mail them to the Police Operations Center, located at 705 South Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. Be sure to include the child’s name and age, along with a parent or guardian’s name and phone number.

CSPD will be accepting entries starting Thursday, Jan. 18 through Feb. 7, 2024.

On Feb. 7, Chief Vasquez will select the top three cards. The next day, Feb. 8, the top three cards will appear on CSPD’s social media so the community can cast their votes for the best card. On Feb. 10 the voting will end, and the winner will be announced on Feb. 14.

Each unicorn represents and protects a specialized unit of the Colorado Springs police force and each will be introduced on social media during the contest. They are looking forward to finding their new home.
