(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported a little before 6 p.m. on Thursday that the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Prospect Street, a block west of North Institute Street, is closed completely.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area.

ORIGINAL STORY: Westbound Platte blocked by crash east of Downtown

Westbound Platte Avenue is blocked due to a crash east of Downtown, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD posted about the crash just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, and said all westbound lanes were blocked at Institute Street.

CSPD asked drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
