USAFA invites public to annual Acceptance Day Parade

(U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.) — The U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) will host its annual Acceptance Day Parade on Wednesday, Aug. 6, and is inviting the public.

The parade kicks off USAFA’s academic year and marks Class of 2029’s acceptance into the Cadet Wing and their transition from Basic Cadets, without rank insignia, to Fourth-Class cadets. After the parade, they will receive their first shoulder board rank insignia and celebrate with their newly-assigned squadrons.

Acceptance Day is the first opportunity for families to visit their cadets since In-Processing Day on June 25. The public is also welcome, and food trucks will be on site.

Those planning to attend the parade should enter through the North Gate off I-25 at Exit 156. The North Gate opens at 5:30 a.m. Visitors will need a U.S. government-issued ID or a passport and must pre-register online.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as traffic is expected to be heavy.

The only liquids permitted at the parade include sealed water bottles, medicine, and baby formula/milk; empty containers are allowed as well. Water is available on-site. Visitors are welcome to bring food or purchase from on-site food trucks.
