(TRINIDAD, COLO.) — The Trinidad Police Department (TPD) said a driver was driving under the influence when they allegedly drove into the Santa Fe Trail Days festival on Friday, June 7. No one was hit by the vehicle but minor injuries were reported.
According to TPD, on Friday at around 8:45 p.m., officers were called to the 100 block of North Animas Street near West Main Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Samantha Hughes, police allege she drove her vehicle into the Santa Fe Trail Days festival and the vehicle came to a stop in front of the Carnegie Public Library.
Police said Hughes was pulled from the vehicle by people in the crowd and received injuries before officers arrived.
Hughes was placed in the Las Animas County Detention Center and is facing charges of; DUI, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Child Abuse, and Criminal Mischief.
