Victim identified in fatal shooting on E Pikes Peak

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that the victim was identified from the fatal shooting that took place on Friday, May 16, in the 2800 Block of East Pikes Peak Avenue.

According to CSPD, on May 16, officers responded to the scene near Powers Boulevard and Airport Road after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man, declared dead at the scene, with a gunshot wound. Reports indicated that the victim had been shot by another man, who was later detained in the area.

The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Emmanuel Cooley and charged with Murder in the First Degree, according to CSPD.

On Monday, May 19, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the victim and identified him as 38-year-old Bryan Parada. The Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death, but this is being investigated as a homicide.
